How Cartalax Was Discovered
Cartalax shares its origin story with Epitalon and Pinealon: all three emerged from Vladimir Khavinson's peptide bioregulator research program at what became the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, built on the idea that individual organs each produce their own short regulatory peptides.
For Cartalax, the target tissue is cartilage. It is a synthetic tripeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp) theorized to bind chromatin in chondrocytes (cartilage-forming cells) and activate transcription of cartilage matrix genes, including type II collagen, aggrecan, and link protein — the same direct peptide-DNA-binding hypothesis applied across the rest of the bioregulator family. Cartalax's evidence base is considerably thinner than Epitalon's, however: the handful of PubMed-indexed papers referencing it do not measure a cartilage endpoint directly, and its most-cited supporting finding comes from a single, unreplicated Russian-language animal experiment outside PubMed.
